God of Evolution(圖1)-速報App

We all evolved from very basic cells, which grew and multiplied, and had children. The children they had were like their parents, often with mutations. Over millions of years, the mutations moulded us into what we are today. But what if we could speed up that process, and make every single child be different in an effective way to its parent. Even with todays best computers, it would be a huge struggle to control enough atoms to allow evolution as far as something as complex as todays life, even just by using cells. 'God of Evolution' is an attempt to allow us to speed up the process, and watch evolution in action without having to wait millions of years, and in a way which allows computers to be able to cope with all that happens.

So, how do we achieve that?

Cells:

Life is broken down into the most important parts of what makes a creature able to live. These parts are;

Mouth (the ability to eat)

Nose (the ability to sense food)

Ears (the ability to sense predators and prey)

Movement (the ability to move around the world)

Defense (tougher surfaces to help a creature survive)

Attack (the ability to kill another creature, in order to turn it into food)

Sight (this feature is not implemented yet, but is planned for the future)

Birth:

When a creature gives birth, its child will be the same as it, with one small difference. It will have an extra cell on its body. Now this cell could be any of those mentioned above, so the first creature, for example, can only move in a straight line, but its child may have a nose cell, meaning it can smell food that is nearby. So the nose cell tells the brain, and the creature may go towards it, meaning it will live longer and have more children. So the next child may have a nose and an ear. The nose may tell the brain/life cell to go towards the food, but the ear cell may hear another creature nearby, which will affect the decision the brain makes.

Evolution:

Evolution will take care of what is best for the creatures, simply because the weak creatures, the ones that can't feed, will eventually get eaten by stronger creatures, or they will run out of food. Evolution will mould the creatures to be able to survive based on the conditions of the world. Only the fittest will survive.

So how can I help?

'God of Evolution' was made as an experiment, in order to recreate evolution in a computer. Life that could evolve, and grow and become the best alive based on its conditions. Once all the bugs were fixed, there still lied one problem. How do i decide what amount of food to give the creatures? How can i decide how much food they need in order to survive? How can i decide how long it will take to give birth? How much food they can store? How long before they die of hunger? How long food lasts until it decays?

This presented lots of problems. Changing any of these factors always affects how well the creatures evolve, whether they evolve at all, or if they all just die of starvation, or can simply never give birth. Finding the right combination of these things is the remaining challenge. So, once all the bugs were fixed, why not let the world try and find out?

So I challenge you to try and find the best way to make life! There is no end goal, no completing this, this is not a game, this is a challenge to find the perfect conditions in which life can thrive and evolve. Your chance to be God! Try different combinations of everything and see how it turns out. Do things simply starve? Is there so much food or smaller creatures that your computer simply can't handle it?

So let's work together, find a good solution, share your solution so others can try it and see if it works for them! Let's try changing things and see what different worlds we end up with! Can we create a world in which we have the perfect fighter? Or a world where everything is in harmony, and the creatures roam around freely with no predators. Your choices will decide.

Good luck, and please share your results with the world!
